Written by John Henry Patterson in 1907, The Man-eaters of Tsavo tells the terrifying story of a pair of man-eating lions that he killed in Kenya while supervising the building of the railway from Mombasa to Nairobi.
The book details attacks by the lions on the builders of the Uganda Railway in Tsavo, Kenya in 1898 and how the lions were eventually killed by Patterson. This is not your usual "track down the beasts and kill them" saga, as Patterson had to
find the man-hunting lions that were preying on his workers spread along more than 100 miles of track. Nearly 140 people were killed by the man-eaters in less than a year before Patterson managed to kill them. This is a story of the courage and perseverence
of Patterson and his crew as they tried again and again to outwit the lions. This story was the basis of the made-for-TV movie, Ghosts in the Darkness.
